ClearCorrect aligners are a popular alternative to traditional metal braces that allows you to straighten your smile in a more discreet way.  They are customized to perfectly fit your pearly whites and can be used to correct alignment issues, bite problems, and gaps between teeth. They are also nearly invisible and removable so you can eat nearly anything without issue. To ensure that your treatment goes as smoothly as possible, you’ll need to make sure to take proper care of your trays. Continue reading to learn 5 useful tips on caring for ClearCorrect aligners.

Tip #1: Clean Your Aligners Regularly

To ensure that you are aligners stay clear, be sure to thoroughly brush them once per day. This will keep them from looking cloudy, getting stained, or developing an unpleasant odor. Use a toothbrush with soft bristles as well as nonabrasive toothpaste to avoid damaging your trays. Gently scrub them to get rid of plaque, bacteria, and food particles that built up throughout the day.

Tip #2: Soak Your Aligners Daily

Along with brushing your ClearCorrect aligners each day, you will also need to soak them in a solution made for aligners, dentures, or retainers. Allow them to soak for at least 15 minutes before using a toothbrush to gently scrub away caked-on plaque or food. Rinse your trays off before you put them back in your mouth.

Tip #3: Remove Your Aligners Before Eating or Drinking

Before you consume anything other than water, make sure to take your aligners off. If you don’t, this may cause them to become stained or damaged. Only remove your aligners during meals or to clean your teeth sense they need to be worn for at least 20 to 22 hours each day to be as effective as possible.

Tip #4: Store Your Aligners Properly When Not in Use

When you remove your ClearCorrect aligners, don’t place them on a napkin. if you do this, you may accidentally lose them or throw them away. Instead, store them in a protective case. This will keep your aligners safe and sanitary during meals.

Tip #5: Brush and Floss Your Teeth After Meals

Once you’re done eating, be sure to brush your teeth. If you don’t, food might get stuck behind your aligners, which can cause them to become stained. This will also raise your risk of developing cavities.

You also need to floss after each meal. Consider carrying a dental travel kit with you to ensure that you can clean your teeth no matter where the day takes you. It should contain a toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, and mouthwash.
