TMJ/TMD Therapy
Your TMJ, or temporomandibular joint, is an important joint that connects your lower jaw to the rest of your head. Like other joints in the body, it can sometimes develop strain or injury, leading to a TMJ disorder, or TMD. This can cause symptoms like a sore jaw, chronic headaches, and even nighttime teeth grinding. Fortunately, Dr. Palmer can identify what is causing a patient’s pain and then rebalance the joint to restore its function and daily comfort.
Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Do you or your child feel nervous when it’s time for a dental appointment? With nitrous oxide sedation, we can make those pesky feelings quickly float away. A small mask is placed over the nose, and a patient breathes in an odorless gas that helps them become happy, calm, and a little numb all over. This helps appointments seemingly fly by, and better yet, once the mask is removed, the effects of nitrous oxide go away almost immediately.
Intraoral Camera
Instead of just using a bright light and handheld mirror to examine your mouth, our team will use a pen-size intraoral camera to take close-up images of your teeth and gums we can then display on a monitor right in the treatment room. This helps us find potential problems that would often be missed during a traditional exam, plus you’ll finally be able to see your smile from your dentist’s point of view and better understand your oral health.
Digital X-Rays
We use X-rays every single day in our dental office to find decay or damage on the teeth that might be hidden below the gum line, and since our dental office has gone all digital, it’s made a dramatic difference for our patient experience. Now, crystal-clear X-rays can be captured and shown to you in seconds, and the process emits 80% LESS radiation compared to old dental X-rays. The digital images are also very easy to store and reference, helping us monitor a patient’s long term oral health more closely and accurately.
Digital Impression System
Have you ever had a dental impression taken with dental putty? If so, then we bet it wasn’t exactly your favorite experience! Now, thanks to PrimeScan, we can create a highly-detailed model of a patient’s teeth and bite without them holding a messy mold in their mouth for minutes at a time. We simply scan the teeth with a small handheld instrument, and in a few minutes, software uses the data to create the perfect impression we can use to design and personalize someone’s treatments.
Soft Tissue Laser
Our Denmat Sol soft tissue laser gives us the ability to remove harmful plaque and bacteria from deep below the gum line without having to use incisions and sutures like in the past. An extremely precise instrument, it’s able to focus solely on a patient’s problem areas and leave any nearby healthy tissue untouched, leading to a more comfortable procedure, less post-treatment swelling, and virtually no bleeding. We can even use our laser to provide cosmetic gum lifts to fix a gummy smile and make the teeth appear longer and more beautiful!
