Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Holland originally pursued baseball in college, playing at Blinn College and Tulane University before joining an independent league in the Midwest. After retiring, he chose to return to school and complete his biology degree from Texas A&M, followed by the completion of his dental doctorate from UTSD-Houston. He also achieved his MSD and Certificate in Periodontics at the same school.
During his periodontics residency, Dr. Holland and his co-resident (with help from the faculty) completed a research study entitled: “Influence of Platelet-Rich Fibrin on Post-Extraction Alveolar Ridge Healing/Preservation: A Clinical Radiographic, and Histological Evaluation.” This study looked closely at using a patient’s own growth factors for hard/soft tissue healing in preparation for the placement of dental implants.
What Do You Like Most About Being a Periodontist?
For Dr. Holland, the great pleasure of being a periodontist is having the privilege of helping people save their teeth, improving the look and function of those teeth, and providing excellent clinical options that help them lead a better, happier smile. He really enjoys interacting with each patient and supporting them as they work towards their unique dental goals.
